There are hundreds of interesting unsolved crimes, unexplained events, and other mysterious happenings that are fascinating to read about. Unfortunately, it's often hard to tell the difference between the actual facts of each case and the less accurate legends that have been invented around them.
In Real Mysteries, truth is separated from fiction, allowing readers to come to their own conclusions about some of the world's most astonishing mysteries. In each chapter, the author outlines the relevant facts and presents some of the most popular theories that seek to explain what happened. Finally, the author gives his own feelings on the subject. Ultimately, it's up to the reader to decide whether they agree with his conclusions, or if there's another explanation that seems more likely.
In total, eight mysteries are discussed in Real Mysteries, including the following
- The Mysterious D. B. Cooper
- The Lead Masks Case
- The Skull of Doom
- Taman Shud
- The Dyatlov Pass Incident
Real Mysteries is the first in a series of books that will discuss a variety of mysteries both solved and unsolved. Future editions will cover topics including Aliens and UFOs, Secret Societies, Monsters, and Mysterious Locations.

As I dig back through my kindle library, I'm stopping to read books that I have absolutely no memory of purchasing. "Real Mysteries" was one. According to Amazon, I picked it up two years ago during a non-fiction binge that included Ancient Mysteries: Discover the latest intriguiging, Scientifically sound explinations to Age-old puzzles and 13 Things That Don't Make Sense: The Most Baffling Scientific Mysteries of Our Time Trust me- although more expensive, either of those is a much more interesting and enjoyable choice than "Real Mysteries".There is absolutely nothing in this book that you can't pick up through a casual internet search. The author did no independent research, didn't interview any of the principles, talk to experts, nothing. This is just a brief compilation of widely available information and the author's own opinion of what might have happened.
This isn't the worst book I've ever read by any means. Mr. Scimia has an affable style and doesn't introduce any pseudo-science or expound silly theories. So if you aren't averse to spending three dollars for an hour of mildly linteresting reading, you might enjoy it. But I think that I've just spent more time writing this review than the author spent on the book......

Real Mysteries The True Stories Behind the World Most Famous Mysteries eBook Edward Scimia Reviews
Love when there is humor hidden within the pages! Great read that quickly had me taking notes! Will look for more!
Fascinating reading, especially if you love mysteries. very short, straight to the point and easy to read and follow. highly recommended
This was an easy read and was obviously well researched. The author has a few tongue-in-cheek moments that were great additions. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading about the darker side of the human condition.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is very short, and it discussed several mysteries with which I am familiar. But there were at least 2 stories that were new to me, and I found the author's straight forward style a pleasure.
There were several mildly interesting mysteries in this book. However, I was very disappointed in the Dyatlov Pass Incident on Dead Mountain in the Ural Mountains. The author concludes that the hikers died of hypothermia. Duh! That isn't the mystery; the mystery is why they cut their way out of their tent and ran down the mountain when it was about -25 degrees F.
I have been reading about the strange and mysterious all my life but one of these stories was new to me! Would have given it more stars but the typos were distracting and the writer comes off a bit snarky. But it seems well researched and the possible theories of what might really have happened are very intuitive.
this is for short and sweet little viginette stories- some might not like it because it really is just a glossing over of each mystery/story but otherwise - I enjoyed it --it's what I expected and was good to just be able to pick up and put down I read a lot so I will read a novel and if I need a "break" I will pick up a mystery like this and then go back to a particular book I am reading - that kind of a book.
